Dr. Eric Bednar
Dr. Bednar loves “saving the world from crooked teeth!” With his trademark smile that never seems to disappear, Dr. B (as his patients and staff call him) loves rolling up his sleeves and working with patients to help them achieve the perfect smile.
Dr. Bednar completed dental school and orthodontic residency training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, generally regarded as one of the best orthodontic programs in the nation and the world. After graduating from the orthodontic residency program, he was invited to join the UNC orthodontic faculty as the William R. Proffit Teaching Fellow, where he was involved in clinical patient care, teaching and research.
While at UNC, Dr. Bednar conducted research evaluating distance learning in orthodontic education, and collaborated with several schools including the University of Louisville. Through this research project, he met Dr. Engilman, also an alumnus of the UNC orthodontic department. This interaction with UofL and Dr. Engilman ultimately led to an invitation to join the orthodontic faculty at UofL and join Dr. Engilman’s private practice. Dr. Bednar and his family moved to Oldham County in 2008.
Dr. Bednar spends approximately half of his time in private practice in Oldham County, and the other half on the orthodontic faculty of the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. As a faculty member, he teaches orthodontics to dental students and trains orthodontic residents in the graduate orthodontic program.
In 1999, Dr. Bednar married WonderWoman (his wife, Francine), and they are the proud parents of 5 children – Whitney, Ashley, Katherine, and twins Andrew and Caroline. In their spare time… oh, wait – they had 5 kids in 6 years! When he does get some time, Dr. Bednar enjoys being an amateur photographer, watching college athletics, and working in the yard. The Bednars’ enjoy spending time together as a family and love living in Kentucky!
